Carroll graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 1985 and the University of Virginia School of Law in 1989. She has a certificate in Executive and Organizational Coaching from New York University and is a member of the International Coach Federation. Carroll is a member and past chair of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York’s Career Advancement and Management Committee. After law school, Carroll practiced commercial litigation and employment law at two major law firms and worked for several years as a career advisor and program director at New Directions, Pace Law School’s attorney re-entry program. She is a member of the board of directors of Campus Bound Scholars, a nonprofit which supports and mentors first generation college students. Carroll lives with her husband and three children in Westchester County, New York.
